Hi,
Have a GQ shorty carby, tb42, and am trying to understand what’s happening when engines cold.
Hot air duct has been blocked off by previous owner. Local Patrols wreckers also said all cars these days have this done as “last thing you want” is warm air into the engine....
Takes a few cranks and a bit of gas to get the engine to start cold
Second; after cold start up initially engine idles a little higher than normal e.g. 1200rpm; but over next few minutes increases idle speed to 2000rpm; then after about 10min will drop back to normal idle at about 800rpm and then runs great.
I have looked for obvious disconnected hoses etc in engine bay and will probably take the car to a carby specialist to do a 100% check and service.
Just wondered if there is something obvious I should be checking?
Finally, anyone know what this is? My old GQ didn’t have it:
Thanks for any advice / tips!
