New tyres help

Im running Khumo Kl71 Mud terrains.

Yeah i ran KL71s for aboit 100,000kms. Was pretty impressed with them for all environments. Great performance but the side walls are not awesome. For the environment the OP is talking about the side walls are very exposed. They wouldnt be my choice.

You probably right champ. arent they 3 ply only? I remember reading my tyre walls. I can check again abit later

ya need a 10 ply side wall not 3ply..look for a lt-light truck
mate did heaps of driving through saltbush n stick out of kalgoolie..swore by 10 ply sidewall...hope that helps mate,

Absolutely agree...

LT tyres will be the go to greatly reduce the amount of punctures... and don't drop your pressures too much.
Certainly agree you don't want road pressures but only drop enough to keep traction and so the side wall doesn't become a traget.

Rough guide is if most (you won't stop them all but if most) of the punctures are in the side wall you need a higher pressure to get the tyre standing up more and 'squirming' less so the tread stays under the rim

What about tyres that have 3 or 4 ply etc but rate as equal to 10 ply. I seen alot of those. Are they legitimate in regards to strength of a true physical 10 ply?

Nitto trail grapplers have a 3 ply sidewall and a 10 ply rating.
A heavy tyre with a stiff sidewall.

A 10 ply rating does not mean a 10 ply sidewall.
I'm not aware of any radial tyre with that many sidewall plys.

Didn't find a thread so I made this one
Part of our job is to visit local farmers
So we need to go off-road sometimes
Problem is my tyres can't endure the environment (last time I did 23 patches in just two days and two tyres were in unrepairable)
Stock tyre size 265/70R16
Environment is filled withy spicky bushes and dry hard stems (puncture resistance required)(no way around it)
Sometimes muddy
So what type and size of tyres should I get
And do I need to change my wheel size
Any help is appreciated

Sounds like you have H/T style tyres, buy tyres that are of L/T construction or light truck.
Mud pattern will be the strongestest Micket T P4 are great as well as BFG AT KOs that would be my pick.
but if doing this every dat go buy some 10 ply tyres like the roo shooters use

I guess I was John mate although unaware how they worked as kindly mentioned above now.
Thought they could have been a bit more helpful like military/mining type jobbies on Google out there.

Honeycomb airless inner video within looks pretty bulletproof but expensive could imagine. Probably very low speed rated too!
Light truck tyres over heavy desert prickles sounds like the go!!

Sadly I didn't find LTtyres for my rim size
I found 7.5R16 Dunlop LT tyres
Gonna change rim width two inches down

Make sure your tyres are LT (light truck) rated as they are much tougher than non LT tyres. Not all 4x4 tyres are LT rated, including some All Terrain tyres.
