G'day mate and welcome to the forum. Sounds like its going into "limp" mode. Have you checked/cleaned the MAF? What is the boost when it is working?

Hello and welcome to the forum, there is a boost adaptor for easy fitment of a boost gauge
the gauge only needs to go to 0 to 30psi is the one you want.
This boost adaptor fit under the OE sensor comes with all hardware so its just a bolt on job,
highly recommend, may need to file a bit of engine cover off or space it up higer
