Airbox
Afternoon all. Out of interest is there a difference in the GU airbox between the ZD30 and TD 42 engine. I know they sit in front left corner just curious if housing is bigger/smaller. Looking at replacing the GQ airbox that sits over the top of the engine but have dual battery/overflow bracket . Is that a issue.

Airbox
There's chats here somewhere about it. I think but don't quote me that the boxes are the same but lids are different and I think zd30 have better flow if your comparing apples for apples.
Both however are restricted as such by the actual filter inside the box design not the inlet outlet flows.

I noticed this a lot when I had mine for the tell tale sign of a dirty big circle dirt mark on the inlet side of snorkel and the remaining filter is perfectly clean.
Air flow restricted to a small portion of the cylinder filter.

Yeah I get this with the Fatz pod box I have. When time and money permits I will be ditching this pod box for a larger flat panel box from Radius fab.But I need to move the ax battery and everything else in its way back 50mm or so.

Strange. My fatz box flows correctly and uses most of the filter surface but I had the same patroldocta 3L airbox which barely used any of the filter, same as Andy's.

Thanks for all your info, the standard GQ oval filter does much the same. Dirty in certain areas so it’s more of a convenience thing. Can pick up a GU TD42 airbox cheap enough it’s whether it’s a big hassle to fit. Just started a project to prepare her for a 12 month trip in a few years time of the Australian outback. Thank you for your advice.

I dont think the air flows good enough with these boxes. Better than stock but still it could be better imo. The entry point of the air box is quite close to the end of the pod filter, so the air has to enter the box and go around the end of the filter and curve back in towards the filter element. I have noticed in mine, there is a common spot where the air enters the filter.
