Patrol God
Have a really good look at all of the rubber bushes on the suspension, especially the panhard rod bushes. When you change out the brake fluid, remember to do the Load Sensing Valve (some call it the load proportion valve), which is the unit attached to the rear axle via a spring.

My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Ouch, not too pretty TA mate!
Ask around nicely and I’m sure that at least one of the upgraded blokes here could send you a free stocky from their shelves ;-)

Turbine looks like it's coped a bit of something but doesn't look shocking tho, my old safari is worse than that. What is the black from on the housing looks a bit wierd? Assuming it's the standard Hitachi HT18. .

Yeah, it had a whole lot of sand go though.
Can’t believe I didn’t check this before I brought it on the 1/2/18. Unbelievable that this came from a big dealer in adelaide and it came with a air box full of sand.... not to mention on both sides of the filter!!

Yeah have to agree with MB she'll be right I reckon. My old turbo looked worse than that, have pulled the motor down somewhat at the moment for other reasons and is in pretty good condition- can still see the factory cross hatches after 360 odd K. If it's driving and performing nice then that should say a lot about its condition. Compression test will give a bit more peace of mind aswell but yeah they are pretty tough motors. . .

Well a turn of events today, after a call to consumer affairs for advice And then a call to the service manager to find out what work had been done on the car prior to delivery. I explained what had been found in the air box and through the entire air intake system. Emailed some photos, the one above being one of them.. I was promptly called back by the dealership owner saying he wanted to send a tow truck to pick up the patrol and give me a hire car. Have a look at how far the damage has gone and go from there. Well bugger me!!
Guess I can’t of asked for anymore than that at this stage as this car didn’t come with any warranty and they very well could’ve said piss off or you must’ve had that happen in the last two weeks since you picked it up.
Got to give them credit for stepping up and owning it at this stage... time well tell how long that lasts for. 🤞
