    8" car stereo speaker x 4 recommendation

I upgraded the sound system on the Patrol about 20 yrs ago. At that time i changed the speakers to Kenwood 140W units, 4 ohm. Recently the sound has been cutting in and out so i removed the pass front speaker and the material that bridges between the speaker mounting flange on the door and the cone has disintegrated to basically nothing. i suspect the others are the same. Can i get some recommendations on a suitable replacement. Note, car gets driven 10 times a year, I am not into doof doof stuff and want to stay with the 6" element. The actual sound system is rated at 50w/channel from memory, and is fine, just the speakers are shot. Was going to post a photo but camera battery is flat, can't find charger. Model of speaker is a KFC-1675Mangled speaker.JPG

Maybe a ‘GLAD’ bake paper ring in first then 1 week smear to set.
It does work on speakers easily and the like.
My last century FJ55 2F Petrol Turbo had a Holden Zenith type side flow carby that used to blow the diaphragm once every 28 days :-) Black Silastic for any speakers or low pressure rubbers anyday, only 2 kids for me ;-)

Thanks but might wait for a replacement recommendation as I simply can't be stuffed rooting around with anything else on this barge. Buy it, install it, use it, thats my mantra moving forward.. no more invent, reguritate, change, perfect, change, drop a zillion, then go to supercheap and buy the one I should have bought - bit frustrated with the endless air pump - does it show???? Not going to reinvent the car speaker.

Hey Phil I've got some JBL 6" speakers in the shed that you can have if interested. I'll get some details tomorrow they're 6 inch but pretty deep so might need spacers depending on where they're mounted. JBL make pretty good sounding speakers I reckon.

Thanks Rossco, looking for as direct a swap as I can get. I think these have simply perished, so maybe the simplest is to buy 4 replacements from autobahn or similar. I was just keen to see if there were any new material developments especially in the cone support area especially for thumping vibration, not at the super frequencies they operate at.

I guess if all it takes is 4 spacer rings that is fine. Let me know what you have, need to be 4 Pham I believe
