    Denco Aftermarket Turbo Kit install on the cards

    Gday peeps...

    Got myself a 1990 GQ TD42 naturally aspired Diesel which is quite the slug in the wind and up some hills sooo I am looking for extra grunt.

    The question is...when putting a turbo onto a 250,000km old unit...is there anything I should be looking to improve before strapping on the boost.

    What should I be checking/replacing to get it right the first time?

    I am looking at the Denco Turbo kit that uses the GQ air filter and intake. The pros from Turbo tech will do the install tune and zorst...just wanna make sure I am giving them a good donk.

    No Oil leaks, Does not burn oil, No knocks clean as sept for a bit of black around the vacuum pump... and its a Soot monster with the trailer on...lol

    Thanks for any info in advance...

    Heya bloke. Unless matters have changed the Denso kit comes with an exhaust manifold to suit. This only becomes a problem if you move to another turbo at some point.
    The exhaust will need to be modified to suit the non Denso unit. Keep your existing manifold as spare if ever you do move to another turbo. Just a heads up.

    Really depends on how much boost you're gonna put through it. Its barely run in at that many km so you should be fine.

    Hey mate, sounds pretty good, should be at those kays if its been looked after. Could run a compression test out of interest sake and check for blow by by taking the oil cap or oil breather off whilst running. If all checks out should be good as gold but would imagine you should have nothing to worry about, just look after the thing.

    just on a side note i have a Denco kit on my GQ and have done for 11 or 12 years. it is no power house and certainly a very conservative setup. there are plenty of other options out there these days that did not exist when i fitted my Denco kit. If i was doing it today i would not go this way.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

    The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    Cheers peeps...Yeah not looking for a huge boost up...seems around 30% is norms for the Denco unit...I just want to get more air in...Can hear the intake sucking hard and then just watch the trail of black smoke out the rear mirror...On the bright side I dont get tailgaters any more...lol...
    I will look into a water to air intercooler (glycol) at later stage.
