Beach play n a spot of fishing out at Wilbinga reserve north of Perth...bit windy but a great evening out with the Quaddrive 4wd club.
No fish...too much weed but not the right kind...lol
Sunsets and beach recoveries...and a clamp kept popping on the 20psi 80series...

Installed the storage system into the back of the GQ a couple of weeks ago...managed to re use the old fridge/table slide, centered for balance...removable battery to slot in behind rear seat and electrical cavity to be installed above battery for easy access.

All materials are bolted down to existing GQ tie down points...all ply has been recycled from completed construction project from last year.

    Slowly filling it out.IMG_20181221_111614_768.jpegIMG_20181221_111614_770.jpegIMG_20181221_111614_764.jpeg

Noticed the pressure under the bonbet when driving...sometimes lifts the bonnet and even seeps into the cab...cant be any good for the cooling system...figured its time to let some air out of the bonnet space...spent the morning opening the bonnet up...might stick a couple in the middle out front later...does the job well.

I also run gills on my bonnet, bit smaller than yours but they certainly help to shed the under bonnet heat from what I have found, not as great an effect as I would have thought, but a help.

Looking at an air dam under the radiator in the future...try pull more air through the front grill.

Long time no show...how is everyone...hope your rigs are safe n sound...I hear ol man fire has been make some acquisitions lately....

Not so serious over ere in the West...in fact we got it good...until the bucket of bolts dropped a bearing in the Gearbox...

Thought at first I had damaged the diff as the driveline kept locking up when I decelerated...went ahead and pulled the rear end apart and swapped the diff out to find no difference dad suggested we run the box on it's own without the tail shaft and soon we realised we were up for a bit more than some time in the driveway.

We figured one of the bearings had failed in the GB so I set about chasing a donor box to replace what we had.

Soon picked up a stripped roller with a good GB still attached and a pile of other stuff I could flog off later to try get some cash back on the purchase.

Towed the 2 rigs up to me dads workshop...having a hoist makes everything easier...we dropped and cleaned up the donor box...dropped the stuffed box and replaced the main seal while the box was off...cleaned everything up and put it all back together in a weekend...not bad for a couple of armature Patrolers.

Got a visit by Avo and his young blood, our southwest legends. I recon he just wanted to show off the new wheels but we soon put him to work...his new Y62 was quite a nice lil beast...too many buttons for my liking though. Big thanks for the help though.

Chopped up some ding snag that Avo brought up with him and we cracked a few frothies to finish the day.

Got to drive my rig home tday...had to gut the locking hubs as the auto freewheel was jamming up on one side...going back to manual locking hubs me thinks. Found the retaining arms on the locking cog in the hub had sheared off...enough trouble for me to eff them off and go 90s spec.

Also replaced the rear bar a few months back...Will post up a better pic one day...

    Catch yall later.
