No all good I think I’m gonna start a thread of the build
Maybe even some videos haven’t decided yet.

With the pistons and such it wouldn’t be possible for me to upgrade to 30mm pins I’d probably go out and buy new rods and a new crank. Any ideas. So going by what you said I’d need to find some 28mm turbo pistons and rods to suit
Where would I pick up a factory turbo oil pump? Off a newer motor?

Parts like oil pump and gaskets, seal etc can be sourced from places like sms diesel or engine Australia and others.
Your 88 donor motor will have 28mm gudgeon pins. Factory turbo has 30mm pins. Using turbo pistons will require a rod to suit.

    Alright guys update time
I’ve pulled the head off the motor and everything and pulled the injectors and glow plugs out and want to get replacements organised. Also anyone got ideas for a camshaft if they make a performance one and also hardened heavy duty valves and springs.

Any recommendations for a good machining shop for the head
    Cheers

Standard valves will do. I have oversized valves from another nissan engine, but I cant remember which one. Double valve Springs will do. I've had them for many years
A multi angle valve grind (mine is a 5 angle with radius between each angle) with a 20 degree first cut, which is better than 30 degree cut for flow over the valve at 1000-1400 valve rpm. A smart engineer type dude told me that and I don't how or why I remember that tidbit, but I am pretty sure I am regurgitating it correctly.

No aftermarket cam. People have said they work well but don't really provide any hard evidence of that. Nissan got their design faily well bang on.

I'll ask again. Why does the old motor need a rebuild?

    Alright awesome thanks mate
The old motor needs a rebuild because the guy who yanked it out stopped caring for it and in the words of my mate who looked it over said it could use the rebuild considering it has 490,000 kms on the clock when it was pulled
I also am rebuilding the engine as a personal experience and something I’ve always wanted to do.
