This is a really interesting thread for me.
After i bought my 2004 ZD30 i set about doing the full service inc. all the filters.
I'm glad i did. the air filter was fluffed right up, the inside of the oil filter was all distorted and the fuel filter was full of diesel jelly.
The oil was black and thick when i dropped mine.
In went the new cheap (10w40) for a flushing and stayed clean for a month. Then i did the proper change with better quality oil.
5000k later and i can honestly say that a golden tinge still remains. its the cleanest looking oil ive ever had in any vehicle ive owned.
The reason this thread is so interesting, i was seriously starting to think that the dipstick tube could be blocked and holding in the new stuff... stupid or what!
