Ist 4x4 will be a Gq, VIC
G'day guys I have done a little bit of off rd stuff 30 years ago and just recently got the interest back. I will be shortly picking up a Gq rd28t for my first 4x4 so thought I would join here and learn a few tricks. Thanks for having me.

Thanks, fellas. My mate found it and has bought it and will take delivery in the next few weeks. He has an 80 cruiser 1hz with aftermarket turbo and he told me that it was slow according to the seller. he took it for a spin and recons it goes great. although won't keep up with his over 80-90 k's. but I would expect that. it is old and has 400 on the clock but hasn't done much off rd work according to my mate as he had a good look underneth. Pump has just been done in the last year and will come with a new windscreen. I realise there will be plenty of dollars to be spent but I will do it bit by bit at least I will be able to hit the tracks.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your new purchase, but first thing to do is torque up the harmonic balancer, using a torque wrench. The keyway stripping out is a proven failure point on the RD28.

Thanks for the input mate. I will be sure to check that out, I have heard of some troubles with the harmonic balancer but didn't get right into it. Noted and will check out. Cheers
