GQ with after market turbo
Hi all
Hoping for a bit of assistance. Looking at a 1996 GQ 4.2 diesel with an after market turbo.
I had read a reference (Carsales?) on one of the big car web sites that the later GQ 4.2 diesels had lighter components than the pre 1995 ( I think) and thus weren't suitable for fitment of after market turbo.
Does anyone know if this is true or an assumption of a journalist?
Sorry about the vague details of the reference.
Awesome web site as well
Thanks.

Hey mate whilst that is true to a degree they are still a great and reliable engine fit for a turbo.
Maybe not to pull ridiculous power figures some may argue but perfectly fine for mild boost.
What turbo does it have?

It has a safari turbo and inter cooler fitted and a 3" exhaust.
Have to confirm the boost yet.
Keep playing phone tag with the seller at the moment.
Thanks

My work car is a 95 Gq td42 with safari turbo too.
I wouldn't even hesitate at that at all if you are keen on it mate.
The Safari turbo is a good reliable mild range turbo, I wouldn't stress one bit about that set up.

The safari maxed out with boost would also be fine with your engine and intercooler is a win too.
