Ironman vs. ToughDog Suspension
G'day all
Went to the Perth 4wd Show on Sunday, and got 2 quotes on a 4" lift for my coil cab. The best price I got was for an ironman 4" kit, $2250 fitted at Sharp Automotive. I also got a quote for a Tough dog kit, $2710 fitted by Opposite Lock. OL followed up the quote and said that they would price match. Just going to ask which brand you guys would go for?
Cheers

While I don't know much about those brands I have to wonder about price difference in the initial quote , just how hard were OL trying to get your business by being that much more expensive to start with .

The Sharp Automotive quote was very very cheap, because they gave me a discount on the actual kit of about $300 and they will fit the kit for $250. I got the quote from OL before the Ironman one, but was very impressed by Sharp's price so I think I will go with them, unless OL price match for me.

The kit includes 4x 4" Coils, foam cell shocks, 3 degree castor bushes, 2x extended brake lines, 2x HD adjustable Panhard rods, extended f&r sway bar links, and a steering damper mount for on the panhard rod. I am already planning for a HD adjustable draglink and a steering damper so the kit doesn't really need those included.
Yeah, checked ot WCS at the show and they weren't too keen on giving me a definitive quote.

Thats their loss then. Not much point in exibiting at the show if you don't follow up.

Iron man are including 3 degree bushes on a 4 inch lift. Given that there is only 1 degree of tolerance for your castor setting and that the general rule is 1 degree of castor per 1 inch of lift, says to me that that kit isn't going to perform that well, that's ontop of castor bushes being junk anyway.
Personally I'd save more money and get a much better overall kit

Upon researching, 3 degrees of castor is perfect for a 4 inch lift. All the brands like toughdog and superior engineering say 3 degrees is good. I've been looking at drop boxes. Would they be better do you think?

Drop boxes are better, also stronger lower control arms and some adjustable upper control arms
Also where did you find that research? I'm a big advocate for correct castor and would like to read it
