Hi all
Was just at super cheap picking up some filters for a service and as I was walking back to the troll I noticed an oil leak coming from my axle seal.
I have never tackled an axle seal before was seeing if I could get some advice or a how to guide to changing it out
Take it to a workshop , nah it is possible to diy if your handy with the tools , it's a bloody big messy job from what I've seen and it would be handy if you had a press .
If you do a search top right of screen you will find all the info you need , not sure if they managed to get the pictures back but it was a step by step instruction on how to do it .
If your gonna do it. Which it isnt a hard job, just time consuming as you need to remove a lot before you get to the actual seal, you really need the right tools. Well you dont but it makes the job so much easier.
A seal puller is a good thing... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12-Rubber...UAAOSwTxpZqTN3
And then an oil seal install driver. This makes it so much easier to drive in the seal dead straight, and not damage the seal. IF you dont, after you have put it all back together you will more than likely find it will just leak again.
You can buy cheaper kits. I did, for about $30 delivered from memory. Very handy addition to my tools. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PROKIT-10...IAAOSw-3FZBbGp
Also when you have the CV shaft out, run some fine emery around where the axle seal runs to get rid of any edges which could affect the new seal. Mudrunners guide will help you greatly too. Very detailed.
