Running diesel in a petrol engine
G'day, all. I just watched a video about running a petrol engine on diesel. Would you run a 50/50 mix to get your Patrol out of the scrub or in an emergency?

Adding a bit to a tank of fuel stopped the MAV from pinging and running on , was told put 20 cents diesel to one tank of fuel that was a few years ago not sure of how much diesel was but was similar to the additive you put in .
Running 50-50 mix to get you out of trouble I agree with above life or death possibly only .

Now that would be interesting to test a petrol fuel pump running on a mix for a couple of hours, just to see if it could handle it. The diesel increased the compression a little too.
After getting home, a complete flush of the fuel tank, change out fuel filters, check and/or change out the spark plugs and an oil and filter change would be on the cards.

If it was life or death I'd be saying chuck the shit in and lets do what a shepherd does; get the flock out of here! But would have to be life or death scenario or vehicle abandonment scenario.
What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

It is good to know that works, as a last resort.

I wouldn't have thought that some diesel in a petrol system would be too bad, add some lubrication, and some smoke.

@garret. How long did you run it, and did you check over the fuel system afterwards?

I filled up a work car with petrol (diesel car) then drained it and slowly used it as 2 stroke watered if down with more pertrol, you could still see the diesel in it tho but not sure of the mix. Stuff ran but not as good, hard to start and didn't like idleing and HEAPS of white smoke, could smell it too kinda made you sick after a bit . . . Still worked tho, didn't like the idea of throwing fuel away, too tight. haha . . .
