    Td42 alternator

Hi I have a 1988 td42 patrol and need to replace the alternator but can't find one that matches the original one do I have to buy one to suit that year and modify it to work or is there one that will match the original
Some advise on this would be great
    Cheers

Any GQ TD42 alternator will be fine, even GU TD42 ones will fit and be fine, just make sure the vac pump is on the alternator as some GU's changed the pump to the LHS timing case rather than back of alternator.
