.5 litre
Changed out gearbox oil in an 06 TD 42 TI could only squeeze in 3 litres. Ute was level and oil was dripping out of the filler hole. Any opinions regarding the capacity?

Think we had this question not long ago and if it comes out the filler hole it's full , 3.5 litres I think is what the specs say but not all of it drains .

Cheers mate had a yarn with a mate today who has a gearbox repair business and he said the same thing. Apparently there is some sort of cavity that doesn't allow the oil to fully drain.

Hey mate. Replaced my oil , or should I say , water with oil, on Saturday. Bought a 4L bottle and had 1L left over after .
So you're not the only one.

Slight Hijack. Sorry. But still on the same wavelength
@nissannewby
Mate I recall a while ago, you mentioning you using the same oil on all your front drivetrain, so diff, transfer and gearbox? Am I right?
Going through my oils right now again what a pain having 3 different ones... Then I remembered you mentioning this somewhere.
So I use VM-X 75-85 Gear oil in the box of gears. Do you think that would be fine for the transfer and front diff ? Hubs are converted to manual, no auto function.

Yes this is correct. I used a 75-90 GL-4 oil from Hi-Tech in gearbox, transfer and front diff. I have done this as long as I have owned patrols. Prior to the Hi-tech oil I was using castrol. Never had any issues. I would think it would be ok. If its ok in your gearbox then it will certainly be fine in the transfer.
