A couple of threads worth visiting if your going to buy a Crimper. I also have the $45 Crimper off ebay and they are a winner.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Yes, I think it's worth buying one for the price they are now. I've also made earth straps with mine and remade the main starter cable when I did my conversion.

Hi Scott, I bought an Aldi winch. I replaced the solenoids with a heavy duty controller. I mounted the winch with the controller box inside my bullbar. I made up my own leads with 2/0 cable and crimped the lugs with a nail punch and then ran solder into the wires. There is no way this will come undone. I mounted the socket for the hand control in the engine bay so it cannot be accessed without opening the bonnet which is alarmed. I leave the power cable to the winch disconnected from the battery terminal (I bolt it to the top of the battery clamp) and only connect it when I want to use the winch. This prevents driving with a live wire in the front of the vehicle and ensures the winch has no power going to it. This setup has done everything I have asked of it on many occasions.
