GU 2WD noise? Auto Hubs? Help
Hi, I know auto hubs are covered a fair bit and I have read what I could find.
My GU is making a clacking noise in the front somewhere, a bit like a thong in a bike wheel. Its got auto hubs.
It doesn't do it all the time and has only just started doing it in the last few days.
The thing is it is doing it in 2wd and only when you are coming to a stop. (I haven't tried it in 4wd yet)
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming its coming from the hubs because when it happens its a constant even clacky noise. Noticeable under braking.
Is it possible for the hubs to make this noise in 2wd? I don't think its the CVs is quiet in circles etc
The cars done about 83,000ks
Any ideas?

It is a possibility that it is a failed auto hub. Mine started make bad noises at about 15-20k. Pull each hub off and check. If the auto mechanism is the only damage, both can be removed, which will convert the hubs to manual operation. A much better option.
