Sub Tank / Charge (battery) warning lights
Hi all,
started up my 01 GU ZD30 last night and while driving along the Sub Tank and Charge lights stayed on. Have read a few comments, one bloke changed his alternator and had success, but wanted to get as much info as I could. So if you know of anything could you please chuck in your opinions?
- Not in limp mode
- Has turbo timer
- unsure of age of alternator
- it does sound slightly different when idling. I know that sounds weird, but I have noticed a difference.
cheers.

do you have a mulitmeter ? checking the voltage while its off then check it when the engine is running. should give you an idea if the alternator is working.
if its worth doin its worth over doin

Had a similar thing that was dual battery system related after I bridged the solenoid to use the aux battery as a starter.

good to know. I don't have a dual battery set-up. but i'll inspect the wiring as there was a dual set-up before I bought car, maybe something rattled loose.

Classic symptom of a shagged Alternator or, if your lucky, a fault in the Alt wiring.
Check your Alt fuses, plugs etc and if all OK get the Alt tested

measured 11.7 at battery under idle. I think she's fooked. Brand new drive belt so it isn't that, wiring looks OK. I haven't checked a fuse though.

Found a broken wire before pulling out the alternator. In the past this has only thrown a check engine light, bugger. Time to open the wallet lol.
