Welcome aboard Swany! From what I understand a 3.0L of that vintage will be fine if you make some minor mods. I believe an EGT gauge is the first addition needed to closely monitor the Exhaust Gas Temps and go from there with the found info mate! Plenty of threads on here how to bullet proof them too, have a search around mate, it'll be alright :-) !

Welcome to the forum mate , we have a 2002 GU that's towed a big van round oz three times without any of the NADS stuff but was serviced when due and looked after even babied by the previous owner .
An EGT gauge would be a wise investment .

G'day mate and welcome to the forum.
2005 GU IV ST 3.0. Snorkel. Roof rack. Awning. Spots. Welded I/C. Dual batteries & VSR. UHF. Barn door hinge extension. Roof top spot lights. Rear drawers. 2" lift. NADS. EGT and boost gauges. Trans temp and water temp gauges. Provent 200 catch can. Rear ladder

Welcome and no need to worry about grenades with the information available on this forum.
I have a 2002 also. I do have the NADS installed and it runs great.

Welcome mate. Although we have a 4.2, we see heaps of 3 litre's coming through our caravan park towing some huge vans

    Welcome mate,

They are suspect, but if it hasn't gone yet I think it will be OK. Most went pretty early if they were grenades.

I know of one that is the same year as yours, not even treated particularly well, no modifications at all, and still going well at 400,000 klms
GU PATROL 2011 Ti, with goodies...
