Like a can opener, well done @Rossco you fit as Bushman ;-) Merely passed along some advice from old mate Arthur from ‘Arthurs Creek’ nearby whom once made a good quick living outa scrap metal neatly packed in the day. Bloke was a Legendary Skinny Bushman too like you although had forearms bigger than Popeye from smashing little sedans up daily :-)

So took the GQ on another awesome trip up the hills last weekend. Went great but clutch started to get progressively heavy and heavier. Checked the vac lines & booster for leaks and booser was leaking like a sieve.

Put a new rebuild kit through it from patrolapart and is working like a charm again. Amazing how heavy they are without vac and how nice they are with it.

Couldn't find much info on how to pull it apart but tried twisting both halves without much success. Ended up levering out the tabs which worked pretty well. Probably took about an hour or two to pull out and apart and back in. Put the bloody push rod in the wrong way round so had to do it again! Bugger, but one of those jobs once done once was easy and probably took about 10 mins the second time ! .

Lashed out and got a brand new ARB aluminium roofrack. Far out is pretty close with the garage door now, there's probably only a few inches spare

Looks good tho plan is to take the GQ over to WA next year for a couple of months so need somewhere for the swags. Need to sus out this awning next too. . And get this turbo on in the new year. . . .

Cheers Markie, yeah it's coming up pretty well now i reckon. Looking back certainly don't have any regrets, now have a vehicle that should serve me well for a while yet. Time to enjoy the thing now although thoroughly enjoyed the process, think the key is to go hard while motivation is there and it's enjoyable. . .

Certainly going to enjoy it next year can't wait to hit the road. . .

Oooh tyre shine, that's a good idea. Power as in engine? Haven't done anything, going to get stuck into the turbo in the early new year. Should check when andy from Dieseltec opens again remember he was closed for most of Jan a while back.

Got the windscreen washers sorted, both motors were sized, just gave them a squirt & wiggle and came good, just need to fix the indicator light in the cluster then I think that's the last of the little niggling bits.

Yeah i know it's a bit scary. That's why i put the electric opener on as it holds it up a bit more, otherwise i need to drive out holding it up out the window as I go

Yay got the crusty old safari turbo off. Fun job but luckily no nasty surprises. Gave everything a lube throughout the week and that helped I reckon, those back flange nuts are a bugger, whoever came up with that design has a twisted sense of humour I reckon. . .

Fair bit of oil on the piping thinking probably from turbo. Has been using a whisker lately too. Think this thing has had it's time. . .
