OK, so a manual slide is replaced by an air operated slide. I know the free spool was a pain on both of my high mounts simply because they tended to seize up with inaction. I guess if the mechanics are inside the drum they are protected, and there probably is a lot more avail force to engage/disengage?

Somewhat similar to a starter motor bendix throwing into action except the exact opposite reaction I believe Philstar.
I think when our air is applied it throws the cogg forward off the piston line for unhindered barrel release.

The old school warn way of free spooling is pretty crude really as you would remember. It's pretty dam hard top pull out as your spinning all the gears up to the motor. The freespool delete supports everything much stronger and also makes sure it can't pop out into freespool on its own. The air freespool is in the drum between the drum and spline which goes into the bottom gear so disconnects it right at the drum end. Can't really see it, mechanism is in center of drum but tested it on bench and seems to work, put air to it and will disengage. Assume it is a piston that moves a splined section in & returns with spring pressure or similar. .

Yeah near on useless I reckon, lucky there's a million and one upgrades for them! At least spooling out with the motor aint too bad they're reasonably quick. .

    Rosscos GQ Rejuvenation

Top Stuff Wossco, ready to roll
If you haven’t already mate, be sure to secure the supplied Delta air line clip snugg to the passenger side casting plate.
Mine came loose and allowed the line to twist up a rotation or two, think I zippy tied it back a few times along the line also to take some pressure off the pissy little clippy given.

Managed to do a bit of lockdown legal winching today and try out new air freespool and recovery gear. . Had my eye on a nice large rock that thought would look good in the garden 200m up the neighbor's gully. Luckily enough he was happy for me to rip it out so made up a bit of a sled to pull thing out. Managed to drive about 100m up then used a heap of extensions to go the rest. .

Wet as a shag lol. .

Air freespool is brilliant seemed to loosen up a bit after a bit of load. Snatch Ring & soft shackle also brilliant only thing is snatch ring really have to set it or will slip off ring especially on shallow angles but other than that works real well.
