Well so I got back from 3 days of 4 wheel driving on straddie this arvo, it was awesome. Having never been to straddie before I was blown away by its shear beauty. It was eventful though. I had only a clunking noise coming from the front end in the GQ (which is nothing unusual) that I couldn't put my finger on. Half way up the track to Blue lake across the island I heard a grinding noise coming from the front left. The brake caliper bolts had rattled themselves off. The bottom bolt my have been missing for 3-4 months. I had only checked the top bolt whilst looking for the problem.

So I sent my girlfriend and mum off to find the bolt, which they id to my amazement, and dad and I preceeded to fix the troll. What was awesome though was that I had a bolt with the same thread pattern, albeit 10mm shorter than the origninal bolt in my tool box. So I was able to put the caliper back on and keep enjoying the joys of straddie. Oh and p.s. I had a full esky of beer and bourbon, so I wasnt to phazed either way.

Top shots mate - yep, it's a cracking location when you get off the black stuff (and away from Dunwich!!). Glad you sorted the caliper out - nice to have a small win like that when you're out and about - I carry a small bag of assorted nuts and bolts for that very reason, don't know what they'll fit, but always pray they'll come in handy when I most need them!! lol

Yeah I have the same thing, and I got lucky with the other bolt. Failing that I have about 300 zip ties which will do some sort of a job. lol

I am coming to melbourne in 2 months AB, to diamond creek where I grew up, might have to get out one weekend and do some wheeling in the area???

Sounds good mate, I was bought up in Warrandyte and lived in Diamond Creek for a couple of years...Well at Wattle Glen so I know the area well.

We might know the same people from that area!

Let me know the dates when the time comes for sure, we'll have a bash at Toolangi and do a BBQ in the arvo, etc...we'll try and round up some others too and make a day of it!

That sounds fantastic AB, I will be in diamo from june 28ish till july 31st so for a while. I will let u know as the date is closer.
