Starting gremlin HELP!!

Hey guys I have a 2000 GUII ZD30 Di and only recently it has started to have problems with starting. I was in Europe for 3 weeks got back and it took 4-5 cranks to start and all was well then checked my oil levels and the engine oil was a bit low so topped up and left it overnight came out the next morning at it was brisk. Got in chucked the keys in the ignition let the glowies warm up light went off as always. Turned the key to start cranking and took about ten to fifteen seconds to start then for about 2 seconds it was quite rough then smoothed out and ran fine. Then was driving to work go curious about what was wrong pulled over shut it off for about 15 mins then started it again and it started straight up. When it does start in the morning a lot of white smoke comes out the exhaust. When it's running it's perfect runs like a dream no worries at all.

Changed the fuel filter about 5 thousand kays ago. Hoping it's just an air leak or maybe leaking injector seals not the pump.
