I was of the opinion that air bags gave a canterlever effect.
but all sorted now by the sounds of it, how did they straighten the chassis.??

My apologies Macca, re-read your post with both eyes open to see you were talking about airbags on your leafies mate. In regards my setup, yes PatrolApart had to install extended bump stops they found needed.

There was one shock showing signs of leaking so all 4 were replaced, that's after 6 years of use and punishment as Mark said.
The Engineer was quite informative and complimented me on using good gear right through the car, he said it braked better than any GU he had driven at that weight, when he found out it had EBC GreenStuff pads on the RDA Slotted Rotors up front he no wonder it stops - they are the best!
That is information from NissanPatrol.com. great source of real world testing is reported here so we buy once!
I suspect that if you had a 3L Patrol (for which Lovells have the approval without need for additional 'engineering') you would have had to use the Lovells shocks (unless prepared to pay the extra for engineering). My experience probably reflected the supplier/installers understanding of the requirements, but as like you I have a 4.2 which needed the additional 'engineering, (because Lovells dont have an approval for it even though all the other details of the vehicle are the same as the 3.0) if I were going through the process again I would insist upon my own choice of shocks, not because I have any problem with the Lovells shocks, just that I have a history of being very happy with Konis on a variety of vehicles.
I put the Greenstuff/RDA's on mine after the GVM upgrade. Was surprised (but relieved) it passed the engineers dynamic braking tests with the factory set up! The new front coils & brake proportioning adjustment which I have read somewhere being described as a 'mickey mouse' way of avoiding the need for brake upgrades to go with the added weight is pretty good eh? Part of the requirements of the upgrade is to ensure virtually no 'nose dive' under heavy braking.
