Clear cloat damage to wheel arches

Has anyone had tried to or had any luck repairing clear coat damage to wheel arches? I believe this type of type of damage was fairly common among the GU Series 4-6?

Found this link on YouTube and thought it looked pretty straight forward....

yeah best to take them off then fix em up. i got half a mazda 323 to do but haven't had the time. but it will depend on surface prep as to how it looks and lasts. do the whole piece if you want it not to stand out
if its worth doin its worth over doin

i did a solid white on my gq. yes it was a full respray but its a two pack industrial paint, tough as and no clear coat. i can do small touch ups and 10 mins of buffing you wont see anyting. a good paint shop might be able to mix up the colour you want. not as easy to apply but its tough
