As for the hole in the shovel for the attachment , unless reinforced both sides it's an accident waiting to happen .

We had no problem anchoring a Pajero with one when we went out on a Paj forum testing day. In fact we bent the handle by being lazy and winching it out of the ground instead of unscrewing it. I'd recommend it for solo desert travel.

When you look at the size of the bag, it's not all that much different from pul-pal in terms of the space it takes in the back of the vehicle.

It's about half the length and weight of the pul-pal? It does take some effort to get in the ground but if you had nothing else to hook up to it will work, and either one of them would be easier than burying a spare!

    Yeah.
I'm making my own pul-pal type of anchor.
It's not that hard to make a one.
Solo desert trekking is a risky business, so you need to prepare for all kinda hazards & breakdowns.

Not a whole lot for the "want" part!
But, the "need", that's a tricky department to step into.

Do I need to carry 100 litres of water? yes
Do I need to carry 100 litres of petrol? yes
Do I need a sat phone? yes
Do I need two spare wheels? yes.
Do I need a spare starter motor, alternator, battery, ignition coil, carby, etc etc? yes.
    Do I......
