Unhappy TD42 revving waaaay too high! Thoughts?

    Hi All,

Just bought my first patrol, 99 GU TD42, has had an engine transplant from an RD28.

It's revving way too high for my liking. I have recently changed the diff ratios from 4.6 to 4.1 in an attempt to lower the revs, but I'm still not satisfied that was the entire problem. Originally it was doing 4000rpm @ 100kph and now with the 4.1s it's doing about 3800 @ 100kph. The clutch isn't slipping.

It's running 31s at present but I don't want to put tyres any bigger than 33s on this rig seeing as its mostly going to be used for highway driving so I don't think that will make much of a difference.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm reeeeally at a loss with what to look at next.

    Cheers,

    Jess
