    Tacho Readings

    G'day all,

I have recently dropped a 4.2 Turbo Diesel and new gearbox into my Patrol. I was wondering what sort of tacho readings I should get when I am do 100km/h. 2300 rpm's seems a tad high as I was getting readings of 2500 rpm when I was running my 2.8.

The mechanic told me that he changed the diff centres to a 4.11 ratio, if that is any help.

    Thanks in advance

    Adam

G/day Adam 2300 sounds about right mate for the diff ratio But it will all depend in the speedo is right as well???

Tyre height will also need to be factored in to this equation as well but like I said it does sound about right.

    Cheers

Hey when your mechanic changed your diff ratios, what did he do with the ones that came out? did he give them to you in a box or keep them as rubbish??

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

He did it as a swap, 1 for 1 type thing and only charged for the labour to install the new ones.
