    Tuning Specialists in Vic

    Just wondering if anyone can help out with recommendations for diesel tuners in Vic?

    I can get to Geelong, Ballarat, Northern subs of Melbourne & Mt Gambier in SA.

    I've heard that there's a crowd in Thomastown who specialise in tuning Patrols, but I can't remember their name, they do Dyno tuning.

    I'm thinking of getting a 2.75" exhaust, dawes needle and a good tune/dyno.

    JPC is on Thomostown, they have a dyno. But like most mechanics, thye dont understand the reasoning behind a manual boost controller for a VVT engine.
    Dont go to Turbo Engineering, unless you want to remortgage your house for little to no work.
    There is a grest place in Geelong, he does know how to tune a Dawes setup correctly. Dalton Automotive. He has a good reputation too for his work.

    I’ll put in another vote for Dalton Automotive in Geelong. I was very happy with what did for my Patrol & were priced very reasonably to boot. Took my 4.2 there after getting a 3” exhaust. I bought a manual boost controller & they fitted it before doing the dyno. I told them what I wanted & that was precisely what I got. Cost was around $200 (April ’15) which is half what some other places wanted. I also liked that the bloke came out to reception & explained what he had done & gave me time to ask questions when I picked it up. They will make bookings for folk out of town so you can drive there & get the work done whilst you wait. I went down from Ballarat,but they get folk from as far afield as Adelaide going there for a tune

    I don't about Dawes valves. Are they hard to setup or can any swinging dick put one in??

    They are not difficult. Mudski's instructions are very easy to follow. Just follow the map of the Vac lines and connect as shown. The most difficult part is actually fine tuning the setup.

    Just watched a few clips on Youtube about Dawes valves and what's involved. I'm not a mechanic, but can hack things together. To me it looks like alot of fiddly bits & pieces that need fiddling with to get the setup correct, is that right?

    There also seems to be lots more hoses and stuff which makes me think that there would be more things that could go wrong, is that right? If I fit a 2.75" exhaust do I need to fit a dawes valve or do I not understand things properly??
