No worries GQtdauto, I just know how expensive these autos can get if things go wrong with them.

Can you please start a thread intro'ing yourself here. www.nissanpatrol.com.au-Introductions
I have a question for you which is off topic for this thread.

I can confirm that cutting wire 22 stops gearbox from changing into fourth overdrive , I am positive that the torque converter locks in third overdrive as throttle response is excellent and there's no rpm needle bounce .
    110 k at 2200 rpm ,100 k 2000 rpm using Hema gps as my speedo is out by 10 k .
First test drive didn't go so well , it was just like driving with od off , no kick down at all 90 Ks was 2400+ revs but when I stopped to connect wire 22 back up I hadn't put the plugs back in the tcu .
Will now fit a temp gauge to transmission oil .
So gearbox functions normally in every aspect it just won't go into fourth overdrive .

Great that it's doing what you want. Hope you don't have temp issues.

G'day fellers. I'm a bit confused here. Gqtdauto, you talk about wanting your car to stay in 3rd gear OD. and you don't want it to go up to 4th OD. Isn't "OD" the 4th gear? So to keep it in 3rd wouldn't you just select Drive with OD off allowing the TC to do its thing automatically? I find mine TC will stay locked on the highway in 3rd by itself all day.

Hi chubba , don't ask me why or how I have no idea but as I've explained 3rd od off pulls 2600 at 90 Ks
3rd in od when cold pulls around 2050 revs at 100ks , not a mechanics ahole but I swear the torque converter locks as this gear has amazing throttle response .
Buying a temp gauge for tranny oil today which will confirm wether or not torque converter locks or not .
3rd od off when towing I find too high rpm and fuel consumption , using od the gears are changing up and down all the time and revs are also bouncing up and down .
With what I've done , in od I can lock out fourth and have about 300 rpm rev range to play with before it kicks back a gear , I'm sure it's third by counting the gear changes but it's been suggested it may be fourth unlocked .
I may be wrong but I do know the difference between an auto and a manual and in that gear it's more like a manual than an auto which is why I'm sure the torque converter locks .

Just thinking about it , it's more than likely in fourth just locked or unlocked , if someone knows what prevents the box when cold from changing up to final overdrive that will be the answer .
