    Front mount intercooler questions?

Would like a few questions answered before I jump into the project!

1). Does removing the aircon thermo and support to the bonnet catch have any adverse affects?
    2) does the intercooler need to be rubber mounted?
    3) is an aeroflow intercooler ok or should I spent extra on s pwr etc!
    4) I have read about making sure to get good hoses, but what to look gor and where from? Are the silicone bends in the universal piping kit ok or just throw outs?

    Cheers Rob

    1) No. The a/c condenser fan is really only there for when your stopped in traffic to help with the a/c temp and nothing else. You should try and do something with the bonnet support bracket even if you make a new one.

    2) No.

    3) Perfectly fine.

    4) Most silicon bends will be from china anyway. I have found MSA on toombul rd to be quite good other wise the universal kits are fine.

Is this for a gq or gu?

For what its worth OldMav has just installed a front mount cooler on a td42ti ute and the cooler, piping and silicon was all from ebay. He is happy with the quality of everything. Use 3" pipework. And try to only use silicon for joins. The least amount of silicon the better.

    Hi there
if you can keep the A/C fan but put it in front of the front mount that would still work for your A/C system , they need air flow to cool the condenser when there is little air flow but that depends on how much room you have left behind the grill with the front mount.
If you can I would use rubber mounts to mount the cooler , you can bye off E bay double ended threaded rubber mount for stuff all and use what a nutsert or a nut rivet that is a rivet with a thread on the inside, any metal fab shop has them and would cost stuff all ,may even only cost 6 pack to have them fitted for you.
The type of cooler , well a good brand are going to stand beside there product but at the end of the day how much do you have to spend , just look at the core size and tank size and the overall construction ,if it looks crap and poor work gone into it , it will work but for how long.
There is a brand named Pro Flow and as far as rubber intake system's go if they don't make it you cannot get it , they do it all so check them out, all so check out VPW proformance , there in Melbourne and are a pro flow dealer and are very well priced.
    Good luck.
