GU Drivers side seat belt doesnt retract properly.

Hi everyone, the seat belt not retracting properly has annoyed me for a while now. Every time I get out I have to manually feed the belt back in so it doesn't get caught in the door when closing.

I have done some reasearch on it but most of the advice is to clean the belt and tracks, runners. Done that but didn't fix anything.

    Anyone got any other solutions?

    Thanks
    Paul

Hi Paul. Common issue. Nissan sell a teflon pad kit that you wrap around the D ring. It works good. But after a few months its back to normal. I have them on mine. I did see however a chap tighten up the spool on the retractor. He removed the belt from the retractor, and wound the hub up a few turns then put the belt back on. Apparently he see no more issues. I think this was on the P4x4 forum??? I'll see if I can find it.

    Found it...

Don't waste your time, money and effort. I've tried all the you beaut tricks - and none of them work after a short while. I bought new after market belts from here:

    https://www.seatsafe.com.au/home

I have had them for years now - and they are perfect.

Good luck with opening the mechanism and winding up the spring. Buy a new packet of bandaids before you start and wear eye protection!

Thanks but they don't do belts for the 2008 GU6 by the looks. Can only get them from Nissan.

Unless yours have pre tensioners I would think that the ones detailed above would fit.

You wouldn't happen to have the part number they supplied you? Their site doesn't list GU Patrol seat belts.

I have dug through some old tax files and I found the receipt.

This is for a GU II Wagon.

    Part Number: 1600007 GRY
Description: Seat Belt 90/90 RH Light Grey

Price was $241.80 for the pair including delivery to Albury NSW.

The RH fit both driver and passenger side front. The 90/90 is the angle it is designed to work at. I asked for the light grey colour but I think they did have others.

    @Patrol-Guy
Bill I just spoke with Seat safe. You are right. Very helpful. They even found your record of when you bought yours. Back in 2012. Unfortunately the price is not the same though. But thats expected...
For anyone reading this the part number I will be ordering is 114-7554, with a 165MM rigid buckle. Slightly short than the OEM one by about 20mm. Same as Bills but now a different part number. And different colour...
The other thing is the height adjuster will no longer be adjustable as it simply bolts directly into the pillar.
@BillsGU. Do you have a pic of the seat belt at the pillar section?

Mine is not height adjustable. It simply bolts to the pillar. Really nothing to see on a pic.
