Engine check light still on 2000 3.0 patrol

Hey guys I'm having a bit of trouble with my ZD30 2000 patrol. The engine check light comes on after I start up then I switch off and then on and off twice more then the light switches off. I've been told it was water in the fuel filter but I changed the fuel filter today and it's still happening.

Any ideas or theories.

When the check light is on the car still runs fine and doesn't appear to be in a limp mode

As ole mate would say disconnect the battery for
acouple of hours this should reset ecu and any faults
