Thought this might interest a few members. A real-time worldwide lightning tracker. Can also be downloaded as an app. Has a sound (click) that goes off in some browsers for every lightning strike as well as a expanding ring from the strike site representing the sound wave created by thunder. Works using VLF (Very Low Frequency) radio receivers around the world.

Interesting to see storm activity in other parts of the world. The link below should center on Australia.

Hope their radar works better than their temp measuring stations , Albany has the distinction of having the hottest ever recorded day in oz .

Tis one of my retirement 'dreams' to storm chase lightning and see if I can encourage a target strike to dig up oneday our very own Fulgurite :-)

Thats one of three new Radars for Mr BOM in the Wheatbelt...
They added the first at Newdegate middle of last year, then Waltheroo and (IIRC) South Doodlakine was the last one in the Project added about 6 months ago.

They are all Doppler Radar so give wind as well which makes them a better resource than the older jobbies at Albany, Esperance and Gerro
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
