November '16 Photo Comp - 'Monuments'
November 2016.
This month’s topic, chosen by our October Winner VK2FMIA is
Monuments - 'structures that were created to commemorate a person, historic event or cultural heritage'. There are plenty scattered about the country in many different guises - so a pretty good chance that most folk will have photographed a few.
Good luck to everyone, I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of 'monuments' have meaning for different folk.
regards
Cuppa
Ps. Please read though the pink bit below if you haven’t done so yet. Ta.
Pps. It always helps to post a brief explanatory caption with your entry.
Regards
Cuppa

He’s crying out for a companion!
Lake Ballard had been at the top of my bucket list ever since I watched a doco about the artist’s (Anthony Gormley) process of engaging & working with the population of the nearby town of Menzies several years before visiting. http://lakeballard.com/about/the-peo...ide-australia/
Anyway, slapping my own wrists for posting off topic ...... back to the photo comp & monuments.

Taken at Banjo Paterson Park, Orange, NSW on the way 2 a camping trip 2 Ophir Reserve with the family for my birthday.
Andrew Barton "Banjo" Paterson
Born 17 February 1864 at Narrambla, near Orange
A.B. 'Banjo' Paterson - an Australian Icon, best known as a Poet, Writer and Journalist, he was also a lawyer, a War Correspondent and farmer, who fought in the First World War.
Recognised as one of Australia's most famous and most admired bush poets he wrote many ballads and poems about Australian life, focusing particularly on the rural and outback areas, including districts in New South Wales where he spent much of his childhood.
Some of 'Banjo's' more notable poems include "Waltzing Matilda", "The Man from Snowy River" and "Clancy of the Overflow". He also wrote another now famous poem called 'The Man from Ironbark'. The Ironbark he referred to was Stuart Town in Central West NSW, which prior to 1889 was called 'Ironbarks'
