PTO winch hub

Hello,

So when rebuilding my PTO winch I damaged the Manual Locking Hub. Everything works but it is extremely hard to turn needing pliers.
Being an older Y60 the hub is one that takes a transfer gear on the axle spline.

I assume this hub end is the same off the front wheels?
Has anyone managed to use a later model non-transfer gear type that couples directly to the axle spline?

Any help would be great.
