The Gascoyne River, near Carnarvon, WA.

Apparently when it ‘dries up’ in summer it continues to flow similar quantities of water underground to when it is full. Provides a reliable water source for the Carnarvon market garden & fruit industry. This shot a short distance upstream from ‘Rocky Pool’. Whilst there we met a bloke who rode his KTM all the way to Rocky Pool (a permanent water hole) along the river bed from Carnarvon. About 40kms on consistently soft sand requiring a nailed throttle all the way. T’was an impressive effort.

The Mighty Murray, on a full moonlit night at Bearii. After everyone else had left, I stayed on for a couple of days and was rewarded by this eerie, beautiful sight. I caught a nice cod ( just a centremetre under size) as a bonus.

The end of the month is fast approaching, so it’s time to get your last minute entries in before you miss out on your opportunity for fame & glory (or just that warm sense of satisfaction that you were one of those who contributed).

Entries will close at 7pm (Vic time) on Friday 28th October.

Comp is now closed to further entries & it’s time to vote.

Please have a look at each entry, enlarging thumbnails to give the entry a fair go.

To vote all you need to do is to click on the ‘Thanks’ in the post or posts with your chosen favourite(s).

You can vote for as many or few as you like & can change your vote(s) up until voting closes at 7pm (Vic time) on Monday (31st October)

When voting as well as considering the shots you find most pleasing please also consider whether you feel the entry fits the competition topic.

    Cheers

Votes are counted & we have a 4 way tie for first place, something which has never happened before in the history of our monthly competitions!

    Three entrants with 4 pics.

As I am one of those entrants I don't think it would be reasonable to utilise my 'casting vote'. Consequently I'm going to ask everyone to do something different this time around.

Firstly I will discount myself & secondly I am going to ask for a re-vote.

The two remaining entrants are VKFMIA with two entries, each with 14 votes
& FNQGU with one entry with 14 votes.

I will post each entry separately & ask that we have another vote on them. If one gets more votes than the others it will win, & the others will be 'place getters'. If there is a tie between two I will declare them joint winners. If all three get the same number of votes again I will use my casting vote.

Votes in the following posts will determine the outcome for these three entries & will not be added to votes made previously. (& likewise votes added to previous posts will be discounted).

Voting for these 3 pics (only) will be extended to 7pm (Vic time) tomorrow night (Tuesday 1st Nov). Please dont add votes to any other entries. Thanks.

Hope that is clear for everyone.

    Cheers
    Cuppa.
