leaking oil around injectors what should I do

I put car in to get tyres balanced rotated today and was informed I had a major oil leak... Went home and degreased engine as right side of engine was covered in oil. ran and couldnt find anything so then took intercooler off and there was oil coming from top of engine area I was relieved as I thought it could have been a head gasket. Cleaned it down again and have found the oil coming from number 2 injector working from front of car it is trickling out and pooling on manifold. I have done a bit of reading and am a bit unsure if I should replace all 4 now or just the one and also is there anything else I shoukld replace at the same time. My car is a 2003 direct inject zd30 diesel. also is there any precautions in replacing the cups or do they just come out. do they need to be glued in or are they just placed in the hole?

The injector lines need to come off to replace the seals. You might aswell do them all (well I would if it were me, lol), and maybe the glow plug seals too while your at it. As its not a quick job to do. To remove the injector seals once everything is off is easy, just use a screw driver and lever them out. The glow plug seals are threaded and screw in.

You should not be getting oil coming out of your fuel injectors, only fuel if there is a leak unless you have engine problems.

Are you using much oil, are you blowing blue smoke out of the exhaust, noticed any performance issues lately?

Are you 100% sure it is coming from the injector and not somewhere else?

The ZD30 injector go through the side wall off the cylinder head and sit under the rocker cover AB. They use a special seal to stop the oil from under the rocker cover getting out where the injector is. Quite common for the seals to go hard and then leak....

With a quick google this is the best pic I can find for you. Ignore the circle in the pic. See the Injector in the pic. Its right angled. The injector goes down into the head and the short right angled arm come out at 90degrees'ish through the side of the head. This is whee they leak from.

Thanks mate, didn't know the zd30's were set up like that. Do you know what was the advantage to being on the side?

What is the best genuine or aftermarket seals are the aftermarket ones OK as want to get fixed asap. car hasn't changed in performance its just leaking a bit of oil from seals and running down all right side of motor and I dont like oil leaks so want it fixed.

Dont know of any advantage. More like a design flaw IMO. Lol

Never used aftermarket, but read a few stories of them leaking. Not much of a price difference between OEM and aftermarket....

No need to remove the injectors. Just take the lines off the injectors and pry out the seals. Might be easier to also remove the rocker cover so you can push the seal from the inside too. The fuel system will need to me primed when your done too. Just pump the bejesus out of the primer, start the car and whilst its idling, keep priming for atleast another 2 minutes. Dont just start and drive off.
