Sitting on the banks of the murray Ive had a wedge tail eagle swoop and grab a skink that was 6ft away from me. awesome awesome awesome
On Black Saturday had a Koala walk straight through our camp, we were sitting in a circle and he walked right passed us. He went down the murray for a drink

Saw this little fella lost in the sand dunes at Swan Lake. We herded him across the sand, up to a line of trees.

Here`s a monitor out at Woowoonga NP. The second one I saw that day on the way down the mountain and a fair sized one too. The abdomen on it was the same width as my thigh and the trunk of the Hoop Pine be as wide as I am.

    Here's a few,

Kimberley Blue Tongue - took up residence under the groundsheet of our tent. Camped out in the dunes on west coast of Dampier Peninsula, WA

Quokka - wandered in underneath our awning - showed no fear. Turned out they only live on Rottnest Island & in one small area on the south coast of WA. We were camped at Betty's Beach.

    [

Thorny Devil. In the middle of the road out through the East Macdonnells, NT.

Mertens Water Monitor. We called him 'Wally'. He was swimming in the same pool as us at Edith Falls, NT.

    Kakadu Kingfisher.

    Kakadu Brumby

Kakadu Croc - catching Mullet at the turn of the tide, Cahill's Crossing.

A shy Goanna of some sort, at the wetlands of Mungerannie bore, Birdsville Track, SA.

Loved watching a couple of flocks of budgies doing early moning aerobatics over the water when we took our kayak up Lawn Hill Gorge, but seeing one of the huge flocks almost large enough to block out the sky is still on my bucket list.

Awesome awesome thread guys. This is why so many of us hit the road to see the real stars of this country!! These beautiful creatures don't give a flying fox about the NBN, fiscal reform, mortgages, economic development, Census debacles, car jackings, stock markets, superannuation, exposure to litigation, employment vulnerability, life insurance, death insurance, pre-paid funerals, interest rates, wheat price index, Foxtel subscriptions, registration fees, civic compliance, social media, facebook, etc etc etc that we "superior" beings envelop ourselves in. Life aint meant to be this way eh?

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??
