The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

Hmmmm yeah I have seen a couple of pics of the OEM Nissan hook straightening out but they are formed rod, that's one of those 10,000LB recovery hooks the same as the snapped one in the photo above. I was very surprised to see it like that!! Was on the front of a Comp Truck though....

@MudRunnerTD - is there any sort of marking / rating on that red hook? Is there a brand stamp? In a way I suppose it is better if it stretches rather than breaks. It's still not good but at least you don't have a broken piece of hook zooming through the air.

Most of those hooks have a 10,000LB rating stamped on them,
With all my destruction tests done not one hook passed , just saying

What sort of tests did you do? Were they done by a lab on a calibrated machine or using calibrated load cells?
