    2.8 engine rebuild

Hi guys! I was just wondering if anyone out there knows of a good engine rebuilding shop in SE QLD that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I have a pretty good feeling that my engine is dusted and requires a rebuild. Any nudge in the right direction would be great!

Bloke before you get all revved up (ha ha I tickle me) about a rebuild be bloody sure of the problem.

May end up as simple as a hone and re ring.

Have you had comp test done yet?

Yes it sounds like it has blow by but that is not untreatable.

    Research first bloke, research!

Plenty of research has been undertaken, I'm just trying to cover all bases first as I'm a bit pedantic with that stuff. The trol is off the road atm as I am doing a coolant flush and replacing thermostat etc...so once thats all back together I'll go from there.

What condition is the oil in? Not diluted with diesel? That can thin it down and allow it to bypass rings. Have a look at this thread:

My advice is: not to follow my advice.

A great idea would be to have an oil simple done. An excellent indicator of wear and possible cause. How is your oil consumption?
