Long Range Sub Tank Light

I purchased my DX patrol (RD28T) with a long range sub tank installed, and since I have gotten it the Sub Tank light on my dash has been on, meaning that it will not work, and nothing seems to happen when I press the sub tank button. What kind of issues should I check out? Any trouble shooting ideas?
