    TB48 Auto trans

    Hi guys,

I have just recently purchased a 5 speed auto TB48. Love the auto to bits.

    Except.

It refuses to hold first gear, in 2wd/4wd high and low. Even trying to manually select it, it can sometimes just keep shifting from 1st to 2nd and back every 5-10 seconds.

It scares me to think of the wear and heat being generated in there...

I've also noticed (while being a bit of a yob) that it seems to cut power or maybe throttle input when you have your foot on the brake and accelerator at the same time...

Does anyone know if there is a workaround for these issues electronically? Or am I looking at a new valve body etc?

Yendor or ET will be your gurus for this one
I always thought having your foot on the brake and throttle confused the ECU
    happy to be wrong.
Might be time to put it in for a service along with some belt, hoses and fluid changes on the motor
that will give you a start point
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Just to be clear, I don't think this is a fault in the transmission, I'm pretty sure it's doing what it is supposed to do, I just don't like it.

I've got a pretty good idea of autos, I built them for a few years when I was just out of my apprenticeship.

I was more looking for someone that's come up with a workaround before I spend hours buried in schematics to come up with my own.

1st gear has an electronic over ride so you can't revs the rss out it. Second gear does much better skids anyway haha!! Solution- aftermarket trans comp maybe but probably have to find the solenoid that controls that feature and disconnect it, or don't worry about it and drive hard enough to do it in 2nd

What do you mean when you say it cuts the throttle when you stall it up ???(foot on break and gas trying to do a burnout )

I'm pretty sure it's a fly by wire system, and it feels as though it's limiting throttle output from the pedal. It really struggles to turn the tyres on a lime stone track with your foot lightly on the brake, take it off and it blows the tyres away.

It might have some sort of traction control thru the abs. Does it have a factory diff lock?? That turned traction and abs off so might be worth trying to stall it up with that on, if it's equipped with it of course lol

    No factory diff lock either..
Might try unplugging the the ABS fuse and see what happens.
