    Provent catch can leaking

Has anyone else had a problem with the drain valve leaking, the one supplied with the Provent catch can? I fitted my unit about 2 months ago and have been checking it weekly to see how much oil collects. I went to check it again last week and found oil over various steering bits. I don't think it was a lot of oil, but as you know, a little goes a long way. After checking further I discovered that it was leaking through the valve.

To give them credit, I rang them up and explained the situation and they said they would replace the valve asap. Has anyone else had this happen and were they happy with the replacement, or did they replace it with a different valve.

Put some plumbers tape on the threads at the valve. Solved.
I went though the same saga.

Thanks Hodge, but my one's leaking through the valve. I tested it by putting some oil in the catch can and watched it leak out through the valve. A steady drip.

Ok this is the type of valve I got through Western filters Provent200 kit.
I initially thought the whole valve was "one" part. But the bit I circled in yellow where the hose attaches to actually screws out.
And the oil was leaking through the threads on that part.
If this is the same type of valve you have, this may be yours cause.

That part circled is an air fitting say for a rattle gun. Why have they given you this rsther than a proper barb fitting.

Yeah it's a fitting seen on air compressors. I think the valve it's self is some sort of an air valve too.
Just came part of a kit with the catch can. And it worked (except the leak).

    Guys,
Mine is the same valve except it has a brass barbed fitting. The leak in mine is through the valve, as if it was turned on, but only a steady drip in the off position.

I think its becasue they use cheap chinee taps. You can get them for around 5 or so dollars. I have the same tap but it has two female threads. And I bought it from Pirtek from memory. Hasn't leaked a drop. I considered a Bunnings irrigation tap but being all plastic and my drain hose runs down and out at the rear section of the front guard and along the chassis rail for ease of draining, I was concerned it may get damage to easy. @Hodge, its just a ball valve. Nothing really special about it....
