We will have to organise a trip up there soon as the fire season is nearly over. I have been up on Mt Cole with the club a few years back. There had been a lot of work done on the tracks. It was a top spot. First come first serve for the shelter. I don't know if you have to book or not now days. One of the members of the club has also driven in other parts of the Pyrenees and he reckoned it was great. You definitely need AT tyres with a lot of tread though.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Is the area closed in the fire season? When does it open?

Nah, not closed as far as I know, but being on a dry heavily timbered mountain in dry, hot weather is not on my to do list.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Well I bit the bullet and here I am. Done old bluff, tiger cat Tk, Cameron Tk. Going to old Kingtree today and donkey hill Tk. This place is gold. The tracks are outstanding and the front locker has shown its worth. More to come.

Good morning.

There was a combination of mist and smoke that had settled in the morning as they were doing some controlled burn offs.
