2 stroke oil in common rail diesels - new article (brief)

I'm happy using it in my 4.2, but had been of the impression it may not be such a good idea for later common rail motors.

I read this yesterday. Like Cuppa I didn't think it would be OK for the common rail motors.

I've been using it in my 09 for well over a year now and I notice when I run out or the missus don't put it in when she fils up. Been Woking great so far smoother acceleration and quieter.

When running on Jet A1 (kero), you have to use 2 stroke oil, but at around 100:1
When they drain the tanks on aircraft, the fuel can't be put back in an aircraft, & they have to pay to dispose of it. It got sold to the engineers for home heating etc.

I use the 500:1 ratio never seen any mention of 300:1 till now but I don't think I'll be going down that path

Cuppa and megatexture. What oil exactly do you use ?
I know it has to be mineral low ash. Wouldn't mind trying it on the 4.2

Makes sense to use in any direct injection engine as I think injector failure is the main cause of piston melt down well it has been on every Komatsu and Cummings engine I have attended with a hole in the piston can sometimes be hard to prove as the failure sometimes destroys the evidence

I use Gulf Western 2 stroke for air cooled engines. It's about the cheapest the average non-trade punter can get.
I can't give any opinion on it because I've always used it from day one with this engine.
I use it at 200:1 as recommended..

Quote for the later CRD brigade... esp if you run Vortex or Ultimate

Vehicles equipped with Bosch, Delphi, or even Seaman’s fuel systems generally don’t need it. Therefore, your unlikely to see a significant change in engine performance or noise with the use of 2-stroke in diesel.
