    Another turbo thread

    Hello people.

Yes I know this has been touched on 1,238,002 times but who doesn't like talking about turbos.

So my GQ has some high mileage. Like 500,000 kms high.

tb42e engine... I want to turbo it but not too confident in the motor coping. So I am considering a rebuild before turbo charging.

Does this seem sensible or unnecessary?

Also it has extractors, will they get removed to install turbo?

As it is vehicle with alot of sentimental value I would like to keep it as close to how I got it and would actually consider not turboing it if it required removing something that my Dad put on...

I guess if that was the case I would still consider a rebuild and upgrade cams, whatever power upgrades you can go without turbo..

    What are my options?

    Thanks

Gday mate I have one the same...NA but i only got 250k on mine...

best bet...get your head and compression checked...make sure it doesnt burn oil and yes you will be swapping your extracors out for a turbo manifold and dump pipe that will have to be grafted onto an exhaust if your keeping it.

Thats as far as I have gotten...best to get the donk checked out by a pro before boosting...Boyles law come into effect when you add pressure to a cylinder...P1T1V1...basically your boom chamber will get hotter...your intake will get hotter and your zorst will get hotter so sort your cooling out as well. A good head and Radiator with new tweeked water pump should give you good results.

I am no expert and asking one would be the go. Actually ask heaps of em the same questions. Hopefully you gt the same answers.

    best of luck...

Use a garrett 3576 or 3582 or non garrett equivalent.
You could buy secondhand of an xr6 turbo, but you take a risk doing that

The biggest risk for a conversion is the shit quality workmanship from the conversion mobs.

Yeah nice. I would be chasing that power down low. Bit of giddy up straight of the mark.
