TD42t Engine Upgrades
Hey guys,
I'm looking to do some upgrades to my TD42t. I'm currently running a DTS turbo kit, non intercooled at 15psi.
I've just purchased a front mount intercooler & custom intake manifold from a gent so that should be here next week. Have you guys had experience replacing/removing the intake manifold? Any suggestions/tips?
Next on my list is a Performance 4x4 TD05 18G, 12mm pump & Radius Fabrication High Mount exhaust manifold & dump pipe. I don't feel confident installing the pump, but I'd be willing to have a crack at the turbo & manifold, can anyone share any tips on making this easier?
Can anyone personally recommend a shop that I can take it to to have the injector pump installed & tuned? I'm located northern suburbs Melbourne.
Much appreciated & have a happy easter!

Hey Chappy. Good to hear from you. Hope things are well...I can only Recommend JPC in temple Drive Thomastown. Only because I haven't used anyone else. Just dont go to Turbo Engineering on Settlement rd what ever you do. You will need to re mortgage your house before you get the car back.

Chappy the turbo and manifold are pretty straight forward and not much to say except for that last bolt underneath closest to the firewall. .. not as bad when putting in the high mount.
As for the pump just pay to have it fitted and dialed in and get it all tuned ...
I can only speak for jpc on our side of town mate and as mark said STAY WELL AWAY FROM TURBO ENGINEERING.
Yell out if you need a hand mate.

What type of intercooler did you get?
As above, some of the bolts are a nightmare of a spot and years of heating and cooling can seize them shut.
Easy job though but I would start spraying every single fixing at least a week before you start to strip everything off.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the replies, I've been well just flat out with a new job.
It's a 600x300x76 front mount intercooler. Thanks for the advice against Turbo Engineering, is it just the price or the quality of work too?
Great advice about spraying everything for a week beforehand. Hopefully I don't snap any studs.
I can't wait to get it done. I'm looking forward to having proper power! She was struggling a bit this weekend with 5 people in the car and full to the roof with luggage.

A quick story of my neighbors Navara whivh had starting and performance issues. Took it to Turbo engineering and was told it will cost 7k to repair. Asked what will they be doing. The answer. Just changing one thing at a time until they fix it. Great way to diagnose an issue... lol
Turned out in the end it was the pressure relief valve in the fuel rail.

G'day guys,
My Performance 4x4 TD05 18G, Radius Fab high mount manifold & dump should be here tomorrow. I'm hoping to install them over the weekend. I'll be chasing some 4" stainless & silicon hose to go from my airbox to turbo. Any suggestions as to where to pick some up between now & then? Northern suburbs Melbourne.

Down in Temple drive Thomastown is a mob who sells stainless. Tubesales they're called. Same street as JPC. VPW on Cooper street should have 4inch silicone. Maybe pirtek of edgars road?
